Nothing Lost in Translation
My eyes follow his long fingers as they run lovingly across the lines of the books epitaph: No peace among the nations without peace among the religions. No peace among the religions without dialogue between the religions. No dialogue between the religions without investigation of the foundations of the religions. Opening up dialogue with the West: Thats the root of what were doing, Linz says. Of course, its the universitys role into which it has been growing now for almost 100 years. Bridge building has always been part of international universities, and at AUC Press, we defined from the beginning that we are reflecting and supporting AUCs mission in education, research and cultural exchange. And we very much stick to that. We dont do it the other way around we dont publish foreign literature for the Arabic world.
442 adds Balfour Beatty and Tesco to client list
Director David Dunn did not disclose what each of the contracts was worth to 442, but he said a run of business wins over the first half of 2007 would have a "substantial" impact on revenues. The group beat off two London-based agencies to scoop a contract to design and install an in-store finance centre for Tesco, which is being trialled at the new Tesco Extra outlet in Silverburn, near Glasgow, the group's largest outlet in Scotland. "It's our first contract with Tesco, so from our point of view it's a great one to have won," said Mr Dunn. "It's a trial initially, but if it proves successful there could be some degree of rollout from it." The company also won a three-way pitch for a contract to give Balfour Beatty's quarterly magazine Insight - which acts as an in-house magazine but is also sent externally to UK clients - a fresh new look.
Doff the crown, Mr. Mayor
I have a better chance of being asked to give the keynote speech at the Democratic convention than Mayor Willie Herenton has of getting an amendment to the Tennessee Constitution removing the power of suburban voters to veto consolidation with the city of Memphis. Gerald Gaia Oxford, Miss. Go to the source, the Constitution The Dec. 31 letter to the editor "Founders' mistrust was justified" contains a conceptual flaw inherent in many opinions about the issue of religion and its place in government. I'd like to set the record straight. The Founding Fathers were not trying to prevent the church from having influence over the government or the state. They were, in point of fact, trying to prevent two things: (1) the government from having control over religion, and (2) the establishment of a state religion (as in the official Church of England).

The municipal corporation has failed to release funds for the water supply and sewerage board for installing tube wells and roughly 4,000 residents have to struggle daily for fulfilling their needs. Their continuous hammering could only move the MC authorities to sanction a tube well and ask the WSSB to install it but even after one-year they have to fetch water from other houses. The sewerage board had prepared an estimate and passed it on to the corporation for payment. Board authorities say that they cannot do anything unless they money was sanctioned for the job. The corporation is not listening to us. We just want that they sanction the money to the WSSB. We know how we have lived without water in this hot weather, said Chamkaur Singh, an office-bearer of the residents welfare society.
